July gets the parades and the fireworks, so August has a reputation around here as the coast into Labor Day. Look at any single weekend in isolation and it holds up. Overlay all five of them on one page and the month looks less like a coast and more like the busiest stretch of the summer, with a county fair, a neighborhood porch festival, a free dance series moving park to park, and a Pride weekend all elbowing for the same Saturdays.
If you already live here, the problem is not finding something to do. The problem is that half of what you would want to do runs at the same time as the other half. Here is how the month actually lays out, and where the collisions are.
Fair week sets the tone before the month even starts
The Summit County Fair opens Tuesday, July 28 and runs through Sunday, August 2 at the Summit County Fairgrounds at 229 East Howe Road in Tallmadge.
